Convened by the Inter-Party Committee (IPC) and AIPDN with the support of TrustAfrica, this high-level meeting brings together leaders of all 22 registered political parties, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), civil society, development partners, and the media under the theme "Strengthening Inter-Party Cooperation and Promoting Peaceful, Inclusive, and Credible Elections in The Gambia Ahead of the 2026 Presidential Elections." Participants will review the revised Memorandum of Understanding among political parties and the proposed Political Parties Code of Conduct ahead of the December 2026 presidential elections.
Organised by AIPDN and WANEP-Senegal, this five-day training equipped civil society organisations from the Casamance region (KABONKETOOR, Action Jeunesse Environnement, and USFORAL) with practical tools to strengthen institutional governance, organisational effectiveness, resource mobilisation, strategic partnerships, and the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. Organized by AIPDN in partnership with the ECOWAS Commission, the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC), the Africa Governance Institute (AGI / IAG), The Oslo Center, Prospect Peace Institute Africa (PPI Africa), and WANEP-Senegal. The roundtable brought together approximately forty political leaders, electoral management bodies, civil society, and regional organisations to examine the state and future of inter-party dialogue in West Africa. Political parties remain indispensable pillars of democratic governance across the African continent. This roundtable addressed how parties can structure voting, enable representation, and combat declining democratic support, which is down 7% across 30 African countries per 2024 Afrobarometer data.
